  • What type of cells can do cellular respiration?
Almost all living cells can perform cellular respiration, with some key exceptions. Ecco una rottura:

Cells that DO perform cellular respiration:

    * Cellule eucariotiche: These include all plant, animal, fungal, and protist cells. They have mitochondria, the organelles where most of cellular respiration occurs.

    * Cellule procariotiche: Questi includono batteri e archaea. While they lack mitochondria, they still carry out cellular respiration in their cytoplasm using enzymes embedded in their cell membrane.

Cells that DO NOT perform cellular respiration:

    * Some anaerobic bacteria: These bacteria live in environments without oxygen and use alternative metabolic pathways like fermentation to obtain energy.

Nota importante: Even cells that don't use oxygen for respiration still use a simplified version of the process called glycolysis to break down glucose and produce a small amount of ATP. This is a fundamental part of energy production for all living cells.
